The U.S. is in the grips of a historic measles surge, with more than 3,000 measles cases reported in 45 states across the country since the start of 2025. So far, two unvaccinated children have died from the disease. At least 920 people have been infected in South Carolina, and a similar number in Texas. In both states, nearly all infected individuals were unvaccinated.

AI agents spill secrets just by previewing malicious links (promptarmor.com)

Community iconc/technology@lemmy.world by
Beep@lemmus.org

Communicating with AI agents (like OpenClaw) via messaging apps (like Slack and Telegram) has become much more popular. But it can expose users to a largely unrecognized LLM-specific data exfiltration risk, because these apps support ‘link previews’ as a feature. With previews enabled, user data can be exfiltrated automatically after receiving a malicious link in an LLM-generated message – whereas without previews, the user would typically have to click the malicious link to exfiltrate data. For example, OpenClaw via Telegram is exposed by default. Test any agent / communication app pairing below!

Hey, guys. Is it a good idea to dunk PC parts in isopropyl alcohol?

Community iconc/asklemmy@lemmy.world by
Young_Gilgamesh@lemmy.world

I’ll be straight with it. I’m a smoker, I smoke inside, I have a PC that is also inside. I want to clean my PC thoroughly to buy it a few more years. I know about the q tip method, and the compressed air, and general methods of cleaning out gunk and junk from PC parts. But this boy is way too gunked up for a regular cleaning. So, I reckon, the easiest way to clean it is to dunk the dirtiest parts in a bath of isopropyl alcohol. I was considering acetone at first, but it’s way too strong of a solvent, and alcohol should be better at dissolving organic residues. Is this a good idea?

We all know the modern complaint: movie sound sucks now unless you have a high-end sound system. Frantically turning down the volume after turning it up to hear the dialogue only to need to turn it up again can be frustrating. Now, this doesn’t solve the underlying problem, but why not have a “Volume A” and “Volume B” you can easily set and toggle between with the simple press of a button?

I’ve been using Fedora for many years now. Recently, I’ve stumbled upon a blogpost that I’m linking here and it actually made me wonder and dig a little deeper. And I’m starting to worry over how much influence does IBM or US government have over so-called “community distro”. The blog post makes a pretty clear cut case - a guy was a Fedora contributor and Fedora ambassador, but happened to live in a country that is on a USA no-no list, so he got “disappeared” from the entire project.

This rush to build out natural gas generation will have serious consequences for the climate. Early boosters of the data center boom suggested that new AI facilities would draw power from renewable sources such as solar and wind farms. While that has happened in some cases, developers are also rapidly locking in years of additional fossil fuel usage. An analysis from researchers at Cornell University found that the build-out could add as much as 44 million metric tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by 2030, equivalent to the annual emissions of around 10 million passenger cars.

I’m a developer working on a game similar to Geoguessr (street view location guessing game), but using images sourced from Wikimedia. The aim is to make it more fun by removing the meta clues in Geoguessr that people use to find locations, for example some players have memorized what street view cars or picture quality was used in certain places. For me, this ruins the fun of the game as it becomes less about knowledge of geography and more about memorizing useless information. So that’s why I made Where.
